The Prism Building

The a new, iconic, grade A commercial office in Cork is inspired by the iconic Flatiron Building in New York

The Prism Building is a new, iconic, grade A commercial office development which will be located in the heart of Cork City. The tower will act as a gateway between Cork City Centre and the New Business District in the Docklands.

Standing at 15 floors tall, this elegant prism-shaped structure will consist of 6,000 square meters of light filled, fourth generation office space, designed to the highest of international standards.

The building is planned to offer flexibility in order to cater to the bespoke demands of foreign direct investment and local blue chip indigenous customers who are looking for high quality office space which is above and beyond what is commonly available in the heart of the city.

The Prism is situated in the centre of Cork City, with superior connectivity by public transport with its location directly behind Parnell Place central bus station and close proximity to Kent railway station. It also sits directly on the main North South vehicular corridor of Clontarf Street, with easy access to the South ring road, main National roads and Cork Airport, which has direct routes to North America and Europe.

With fully glazed ultra-transparent façades offering 360-degree panoramic views of Cork City Centre, the Docklands and the River Lee, local Architects Reddy Architecture + Urbanism, used the iconic Flatiron Building on New York’s Fifth Avenue as one of the inspirations for The Prism design.

The floor to ceiling super clear vision glass provides an optimum combination of very high light transparency with low-reflectivity, solar protection and thermal insulation for a pleasant ambient indoor climate throughout the year. The glass walls will be complimented with a textured stainless-steel element, adding to the ‘crystal- line’ effect of the overall building.

“Through the height and shape of the building, our goal is to produce an iconic piece of architecture that has a sense of bravura in the use of cantilevers and curved high-tech glass that we believe will be an at- tractive and iconic addition to Cork City’s projected growing skyline.”

“The Clontarf Street development matches City Hall plans for renewal and will give a long-awaited boost to this corner of the city. We are very excited about this development. Our hope is that it will enhance and enliven the local area, acting as a catalyst for the development of nearby sites. It will become a location marker for a rejuvenated city quarter, providing a much-needed link between the city centre and the docklands.”
